1994, I was helping a friend of the family organize
his office and get current with computer technologies.
He owned a construction company and also a building
inspection company. He did not know how to use his computer
to its full potential, and was still writing proposals
and evaluations by hand. I stepped in and taught him
how to use his computer, built a couple of small databases
for him, and he was off to the races! He liked what
I did for him so much; he started referring me to his
acquaintances. One thing lead to another, and I was
then asked to design web sites for various companies.
As I was looking for a way to pay for college, it was
perfect idea. Storm Group was created a few months later,
and the request for web and print designs started rolling
in.
I continued to design sites for companies and individuals
that heard about my work until my school load became
to much to provide the type of dedicated service that
my clients were accustom to receiving from me. So, in
1996, I decided that my education had to come first.
I continued on at Pennsylvania State College and Graduated
with a BS in General Science, as I thought I wanted
to be a Medical Doctor. As I was already 29, I could
not see spending another 5-7 years in school and interning,
so I decided that I would thrust myself into the field
of Scientific Research, and Storm Group was no more.
2001, I was asked to design a web site for a newly
formed company. They wanted a site that looked professional,
but could not see spending the thousands of dollars
that design firms were asking for. As I had kept somewhat
current with modern design practices, I accepted his
request. Upon completing this site, they referred me
to another start up company. One referral lead to another,
and from 2001 to 2004 I have launched 20 various web sites
and animations. Although 20 projects is a small amount
for a design firm, it is a good amount for a freelance
designer.
Today, Storm has launched over 100 web sites. I have worked with companies with hunders of employess and companies with just one employee. No design is to small, no design is too large. Today's Storm is a far cry from its rebirth in 2001. Offering a full range of programming, hosting and graphic options, there is no site that Storm can not build, no design we can not tackle.
